Our project began with a dream — to bring nature’s wonders and tranquility within reach of every person, especially those who are disabled.
Our vision is bold, and we are confident that with your help we can build a trail where everyone is able to pursue better health, find quiet space for reflection, and gain lasting knowledge about the world around them.
The next step for the Accessible Sensory Nature Trail is to pursue a feasibility study and develop a preliminary site master plan. These are two foundational documents that will establish the trail’s scope, community impact, and visual framework.
Your tax-deductible contribution to the Friends of Pocahontas State Park will help us get closer to to creating a trail where every visitor arrives to know that all the benefits of the outdoors are just one step ahead.
Volunteer
Volunteer service is central to the partnering organizations who are working to bring the Accessible Sensory Nature Trail project to reality.
Members of the Friends of Pocahontas State Park and the Virginia Master Naturalist-Pocahontas Chapter are closely aligned with efforts that support the park through stewardship, education, and outreach. This trail will be an additional opportunity for volunteer service.
The Accessible Sensory Nature Trail project requires people with expertise, knowledge, and personal and professional experience to bring this complex project to life!
Please be in touch if you would like to be contacted regarding specific volunteer opportunities that support the project.
